The Toronto Blue Jays entered Sunday's double-header against the New York Yankees with a 13-13 record. This was good for third place in the American League East division, but just two games separated Toronto from the first place Yankees.
While two wins on Sunday could have pulled the Blue Jays even with New York in the standings, a rough outing from starting pitcher Kevin Gausman saw that chance go by the wayside. Making it through just 2.2 innings, Gausman surrendered six earned runs before ultimately being ejected.
Unhappy with the strike zone from home-plate umpire Chris Conroy, Gausman was tossed on his way out of the game.

Gausman was not the only person in Toronto's dugout who saw his day end early. Blue Jays manager John Schneider was also tossed from the first game of Sunday's double-header after storming towards the home-plate umpire and making his displeasure known.
"Manager John Schneider has also been ejected from today's game," the Blue Jays announced on X.
Following Schneider's ejection, which came in an 11-1 loss, several Blue Jays fans made it clear they want him fired.
"He should be ejected from his job," a fan wrote.
"Eject him from the team," said another.
"Fire him and Atkins," one added. "Not all his fault, but someone needs to take the fall for constant losing and terrible hitting."
"Atkins and Schneider will be unemployed very soon," claimed another.
"Can he be fired too?" one asked.
"He should be fired after todays game," a fan added.
"Just eject him from the organization," a fan implored. "Because two years of losing is quickly becoming three."
