Burnley XI vs Arsenal – Predicted lineup and team news

Burnley travel to the Emirates Stadium on Monday night, aiming to spoil Arsenal’s late Premier League title charge.

The Clarets are already relegated but want to avoid finishing at the foot of the division. Mike Jackson’s side sit 19th, just two points clear of basement boys Wolverhampton Wanderers. They showed genuine spirit last weekend, snapping a five-game losing streak with a draw against Aston Villa. The visitors, however, face a daunting task against the league’s most reliable defensive unit.

Burnley team news

Jackson expects to name a similar starting eleven to the side that faced Villa. Hannibal Mejbri limped off last Sunday but has recovered well from a minor injury, though he faces a final fitness check before Jackson finalises his lineup. Ashley Barnes, Josh Cullen and Jordan Beyer remain ruled out.

Connor Roberts is closing in on a senior return but lacks match fitness despite featuring for the under-21s. Martin Dúbravka is expected to start in goal despite Max Weiss performing creditably against Villa. At the back, Bashir Humphreys offers an option to combat Arsenal’s aerial threat.

Up front, Zian Flemming will support the attack, having scored his 10th Premier League goal of the campaign last time out — making him just the fifth Burnley player to reach double figures in a single top-flight season.

The historical record offers little encouragement for the visitors. Burnley have never scored more than once in 19 Premier League meetings with Arsenal. They have also won their final away game in just two of their nine top-flight campaigns.

Burnley predicted lineup

Burnley predicted XI: Dubravka; Walker, Tuanzebe, Esteve, Pires; Ugochukwu, Florentino; Tchaouna, Hannibal, Anthony; Flemming.
