CAMBRIDGE — Buckeye Trail's varsity golf team overcame the wet, soggy conditions during the annual Guernsey County Invitational to successfully defend their title with their second consecutive victory in the event held Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Cambridge Country Club.
Trail finished with a team score of 327 to slip past runner-up John Glenn (337), followed by Meadowbrook (373) and Cambridge (395).
“I am proud of the team, they shot our best team score of the year thus far," Buckeye Trail head coach Austin Danford said. "We are a young group and every time out is a learning experience. The boys are working hard and trending in the right direction.”
Senior Sam Wayble paced the Warriors who claimed the individual medalist honors with a score of 36, followed by Zach Troyer (81) Cameron Creighton (84), Zane Knellinger (86), Grant MIller (88) and Coltour Abrams (92).
Carter Shiplett paced the runner-up Muskies' effort with 79, along with Quentin Yanosik (83), Hayden Hayes (88), Grady Matheney (89) and Easton Hursey (93).
Colts' scores included Kam Winnett (78), Braxtan Murphy (97), Gage Lynch (98), Jake Smithberger (100), Austin Warner (104) and Braxton Sigman (109).

Bryson Williams paced the Bobcats with 91, followed by Carter Gebhart (98), Asher Byerly (100), Ian Archibald (106), Brody Latham (118) and Grant Stoner (119).
