Bruno Guimaraes has completed his Arsenal medical and signed a four-year deal ahead of Newcastle United exit

Arsenal have finalised the blockbuster signing of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes after the 28-year-old Brazil international successfully passed his medical, according to SBT Rio. Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe are at the Emirates Stadium and St James’ Park with the Gunners.

He has also signed a four-year contract, which includes a club option for an additional year. This concludes weeks of intensive negotiations, delivering Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta his top target to reinforce the Gunners’ midfield ahead of the new campaign.

To satisfy financial regulations and manage capital allocation efficiently, Arsenal reached an agreement with Newcastle to split the £75m fee into three structured instalments of £25m per year.

For Arsenal, signing Guimaraes represents a major statement of intent in the domestic market. The ‘special’ Brazilian has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best players since arriving from Lyon. Capable of operating as a deep-lying playmaker or a dynamic box-to-box midfielder, Guimaraes registered nine goals and seven assists in all competitions last season.

Operating alongside Declan Rice, Guimaraes is set to anchor Arsenal’s midfield as the Gunners push for silverware in domestic and continental competitions after they won the Premier League and reached the Champions League final last season.

Conversely, the departure marks a significant loss for Newcastle United. Having already seen key squad members depart during a turbulent summer, the Magpies reluctantly agreed to honour Guimaraes’ desire to join Arsenal.

Newcastle are expected to reinvest a portion of the £75m fee in their own squad rebuild before the transfer deadline.

With all formalities now complete, Guimaraes is set to link up with his new Arsenal teammates.
