The Cleveland Browns still haven’t answered the question Pittsburgh Steelers fans want to know.

Cleveland has spent the offseason selling the idea of competition, possibility, and a fresh start after moving on from Myles Garrett. But with training camp closing in, the biggest mystery around Pittsburgh’s AFC North rival remains the same: Between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, who’s actually going to play quarterback?

Bruce Murray tried to get that answer from Browns defensive end Alex Wright during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio’s “The Blitz.” He waited until the final seconds of the segment, tossed out the question, and gave Wright a chance to slip.

Wright wanted no part of it.

“I’m not telling,” Wright said. “I’m not gonna tell you. You not about to get me in trouble.”

That answer was funny, but it also said plenty.

No Browns player with any sense is about to accidentally reveal the plan, especially when Cleveland hasn’t even reached training camp yet. There’s a chance the Browns themselves still don’t have a real answer. Todd Monken may have a preference, the front office may have a timeline, and the locker room may have a feeling. But until the competition actually plays out, nobody knows.

Pittsburgh already has enough to sort out inside its own building, but the Browns’ uncertainty could shape the AFC North race. Cleveland can talk up its defense, its physical identity and its ability to survive Garrett’s exit all it wants. If the quarterback spot is uncertain, that puts a hard ceiling on everything else.
