After avoiding the sophomore slump, Bo Nix is moving up the list of the NFL's best players heading into his third season with the Denver Broncos.
The former Oregon Ducks passer and Heisman finalist was voted as the No. 59 player on the NFL Top 100 list heading into the 2026 season. The list, which is voted on by players around the league, saw Nix jump up five spots from No. 64, where he was ranked in 2025. Earning such a distinction by the media is noteworthy, but receiving the praise and respect from your peers is even better.
In the 2024 draft class, Nix was the sixth quarterback taken in the first round. However, among those six, Nix is the only quarterback to lead his team to the postseason in his first two seasons. Last year, Nix guided the Broncos to a 14-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the AFC. He picked up his first playoff win against the Buffalo Bills, but an ankle injury ended his season before he could take the field against the New England Patriots with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
"When Bo needs to make a play, he's able to make big plays," Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby said on the "NFL Top 100 Players of 2026" reveal show. "He's athletic, he's got a great arm. He's a dog, I'll give it to him."
In his second season as a pro, Nix threw for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding 356 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns as well. He joined former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and former Oregon quarterback and current Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert as the only quarterbacks in NFL history with at least 3,500 passing yards and 25 touchdowns in each of his first two seasons.
While the Broncos' stout defense certainly kept the team in games, Nix earned a reputation as one of the league's best closers, orchestrating seven game-winning drives, the most among all quarterbacks last season. He also led the league in pass attempts (612) and tied the NFL record for most wins by a quarterback in his first two seasons (24, tied with Russell Wilson).
"I don't know what it is, but when he's down, the urgency picks up," Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II said. "It's like he turns into Superman."
Now healthy, Nix is in position to help Denver return to the playoffs and contend for a Super Bowl again this season. With new weapons by his side, and familiar ones as well in Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin, the Broncos are among the favorites to take the league crown this season.
