If his early camp performances are any indication, Brock Purdy could be gearing up for his best season yet with the San Francisco 49ers.
Purdy has already proven to be a dynamic NFL starter, making 45 starts for San Francisco since debuting in the league in 2022; in those outings, he's posted a 30-15 record. He has thrown for 11,685 yards and 84 touchdowns to just 37 interceptions over his four seasons. But as the 49ers shared the field with the Tennessee Titans for a joint practice session this week, he showed he might be ready to take things to the next level this year.
"This was a practice with QB Brock Purdy in total control," ESPN's Nick Wagoner reported. "Not counting him spiking the ball once in two-minute, I had Purdy at 21-of-27 on the day with no interceptions and at least three for sure touchdowns...even [Kyle] Shanahan had to give Purdy his props after, noting that he had 'a hell of a day'.”
Purdy struggled with injuries last year, making just nine appearances for the 49ers – his fewest games played since his rookie season. But when he was on the field, he started each game and led the 49ers to a 7-2 record in those outings while tying his career-best completion percentage (69.4%). And his performance against the Titans in the joint practice shows not only that he is back this season without missing a step, but that he might even have taken a couple of steps forward.
