The NFL announced fines levied against the Detroit Lions on Sunday a week after their overtime win over the New York Giants.
The Lions have since lost their Thanksgiving matchup with the Green Bay Packers, and dug themselves a hole in the NFC North race. They now sit at 7-5 with little chance to get back into the title race.
Safety Brian Branch once again earned a fine, this time for a hit on a defenseless player. Branch made a hit on Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson in the first quarter of the game, drawing a quick 15-yard penalty and now a $23,186 fine. It's Branch's fifth fine of the season and his second in consecutive weeks.
The NFL also handed down a fine to backup tackle Dan Skipper for taunting by standing over a Giants player following an incomplete pass to Jahmyr Gibbs in the third quarter. Skipper wasn't flagged during the game, but will have to pay a $6,917 fine.
Linebacker Jack Campbell will also be paying a fine, his violation coming in the form of a hip-drop tackle on Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the last five minutes of regulation. Campbell also wasn't flagged during the game for the play, but will pay a $17,389 fine for his actions.
