Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski continues to establish new MLB standards.
Capping a one-hit, complete-game shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies at American Family Field, Misiorowski (8-2) struck out 15 batters, the most of any pitcher in a game this season.
He also became the first modern-era MLB pitcher to collect at least 15 strikeouts, yield one or fewer runs and face a minimum of 27 opponents in a game.
Misiorowski also released a fastball that was clocked at 104.5 mph, establishing a new record for the fastest pitch.
He also established a new strikeout mark in a "Maddux," an outing where a pitcher tosses a shutout with fewer than 100 pitches.
Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski keeps shutting down opponents
The Phillies entered Friday with at least one hope: Bryce Harper. The first baseman entered Friday 2-for-2 with a home run off the Misiorowski. The hope dimmed early as Harper went 0-for-3 with a first-inning strikeout that featured three consecutive whiffs.
In 95 pitches Friday, Misiorowski, who has allowed just one earned run since April 25, induced 26 swings and misses.
Misiorowski entered Friday as one of only two pitchers, along with the Chicago White Sox's Grant Taylor, to compile an earned-run average under 2.00 and average at least 13 strikeouts per nine innings.
In the 6-0 victory over the Phillies, he topped both marks.
