Brayden Burries’s Parents Are Both Former College Athletes

Brayden Burries has only been playing college basketball for a year and he’s already one of the biggest stars in the NCAA Men’s Final Four this year. Brayden grew up in San Bernardino, California, attending Riverside Polytechnic High School before transferring to Eleanor Roosevelt High School after his freshman year. As a senior, he won the California CIF State Basketball Championship with Roosevelt and was selected to play in the 2025 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. After some wooing from multiple college programs, he now plays for the Arizona Wildcats of the Big 12 Conference.

The 2026 NBA draft is expected to take place in late June. In a recent mock draft from USA Today, Brayden is already considered so talented he could go in the first round. (That doesn’t mean he has confirmed or announced anything yet.) “Burries has also looked like a lottery talent during March Madness, earning a spot in the Sweet 16,” wrote Bryan Kalbrosky, USA Today’s senior NBA staff writer. “He has proven productivity and he is able to defend, relocate, move the ball and make 3-pointers off the dribble.”

Brayden comes from a sports household, and both of his parents are often seen at his Arizona games. Below, get to know Brayden’s parents, Hannah and Bobby Burries.

Meet Brayden’s mom, Hannah:​

Brayden’s mother, Hannah, played two seasons of collegiate softball at Tennessee and one season of basketball at Cal State San Bernardino as a graduate transfer, earning All-Conference honors and a degree in business administration. It was at Cal State San Bernardino that she met her husband, Bobby, who played on the men’s basketball team. They have been together 21 years and have five children, all with “B” names: BJ, Brianna, Brayden, Brealani, and Brielle.

After college, Hannah was a teacher for six years before joining United Airlines, where she has worked for nearly two decades. She was awarded the United 100 award in 2017, given annually to only 100 employees companywide for exceptional performance, and received the honor again in 2023.

Bobby was also a star athlete in school. He started out playing both football and basketball in high school before focusing on college basketball at San Bernardino Valley College and Cal State San Bernardino, where he is now a member of the latter’s Hall of Fame. He went on to play professionally overseas. Brayden has credited his father with instilling a winning mentality in him from an early age. “That’s helped me get to the point where I’m at today,” Brayden said in 2025.
