The NL East leading Atlanta Braves, who hold an 8.5 game lead on the rest of the pack, made an expected roster move before tonight game with the Seattle Mariners.
The #Braves today reinstated RHP Raisel Iglesias from the injured list and designated RHP Carlos Carrasco for assignment. Additionally, LHP Dylan Dodd tonight begins a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett. The club also transferred INF Ha-Seong Kim’s rehabilitation…

Raisel Iglesias is back with the Braves after an awkward-sleep-inducing Injured List stay that began on April 21st. The Braves closer has been missed. Robert Suarez has been excellent in his stead. However, connecting the starting pitcher to the closer by the bullpen has not been functioning well. The bullpen outside of Iglesias, Suarez, Tyler Kinley, Dylan Lee, and Didier Fuentes has largely been a collection of smooth rocks and sticks bound together by bowling alley shoestrings to the tune of -0.3 WAR. WAR isn’t a great metric for relievers, but the FIP speaks for itself. Walt Weiss left in young starting pitcher JR Ritchie at least 2 hitters too many last night to avoid using them, but to no avail. Between work and wife and child, it was only the seventh or eighth dumbest thing I witnessed yesterday. It’s spilled milk in any case.
Carlos Carrasco has been designated for assignment for the second time in a week. The Braves retained his services after his last DFA. I assume this only means that Carlos has to ride coach on his own to Los Angeles for the next series with the Dodgers. I’m not sure who would supplant him at this time.
Ha-Seong Kim is progressing in his rehab from an icy fall during the offseason. Kim grabbed three singles and four walks in 13 plate appearances in Double-A Columbus. Joining him in Gwinnett is Dylan Dodd, who is rehabbing from left thoracic spine inflammation. We might see them both very soon.
