Brandel Chamblee has always been a fierce advocate for the PGA Tour, while the complete opposite is true regarding his stance on LIV Golf.
Chamblee has made no secret of his antipathy for LIV Golf and often spoken out about the lack of meaning to LIV Golf and the inauthenticity of the league as a whole.
Ever since LIV’s inception in 2022, they have received criticism for basing their ethos and business plan purely around money.
LIV Golf‘s reliance on the incredibly wealthy backing of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund will come to an end at the end of this season.

However, during a press conference on Wednesday, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil announced that he has found new investment for the league.
That said, he did not reveal explicit details about the fresh investment.
And even if LIV Golf does carry on into 2027 and beyond, like it seems it will, it will undoubtedly operate on a significantly different landscape.
Brandel Chamblee hits back at PGA Tour criticism after LIV Golf announcement
Chamblee has reacted to claims that LIV Golf is the so-called ‘global tour’ in the professional game.
Chamblee took to his official X account in response to a suggestion that the PGA Tour is ‘too US-centric’.
“Almost half of the top 50 players in the world are from outside the USA,“ Chamblee said.
“The PGA Tour is the world’s best tour for a lot of reasons. Among them, no other tour combines the deepest fields and the highest competitive standards, the best-conditioned courses, the greatest variety of championship tests, the richest history and the strongest economic opportunities.

“It is where players are challenged the most ardently and rewarded most richly, and ultimately judged the most completely.“
He is definitely correct with that summary.
There is no doubt whatsoever that the PGA Tour is the best place to ply your trade if you’re a top-class professional golfer.
However, another side of the argument is that it would be great to see the PGA Tour play more events abroad.
Does the PGA Tour need to play a more global schedule?
Sure, the PGA Tour do travel abroad, with tournaments held in countries such as Mexico, Japan and Bermuda.
However, the vast majority of those tournaments are opposite field events, ones which are played alongside major championships and some of the elite Signature Events.
Perhaps the PGA Tour would gain even more pulling power worldwide if they held major events in Australia and South Africa, for example.
Rory McIlroy deserves huge respect for traveling around the globe, playing events in countries like Australia and India.
However, it would be great to see world number one Scottie Scheffler do more of the same.
Sure, he is an independent contractor and there is no obligation for him to play more outside of the United States.
That said, as the world number one golfer, it’s fair to argue that he has a certain kind of responsibility to help grow the game worldwide.
