Boniface still lacking fitness, not available for Werder despite training return
It has been more than a week since Victor Boniface returned to team training following injury, but he is still not an option for Werder Bremen ahead of Sunday’s Bundesliga clash with 1. FC Köln.
At a press conference on Friday, Werder Bremen coach Daniel Thioune made it clear that the Nigerian striker still needs to work on his fitness.
“It is obvious that we had expected Victor to return to us in a better physical condition,” Thioune said.
“Recently, we decided that he would be gradually reintegrated via team training rather than individual training.”
Boniface has made 11 appearances without scoring since joining Werder on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
