Longtime Belmont basketball associate head coach Bryan Ayers will remain on the Bruins' staff in his current role under new coach Evan Bradds, the school announced on March 23.
Ayers has spent 28 seasons on the Belmont staff under previous coaches Rick Byrd and Casey Alexander. He is the longest-standing assistant coach at one institution currently in NCAA Division I men's basketball.
Ayers will be reunited with Bradds when Bradds takes over at Belmont on a daily basis. Bradds, who played at Belmont from 2013-17, is currently on the Duke staff and will remain with the Blue Devils in the Men's NCAA Tournament. "Brian's extensive experience, attention to detail, and dedication to Belmont student-athletes is something I have always valued and respected," Bradds said. "He will be a huge asset to our new coaching staff, as well as players present and future."

Ayers is a Clarksville native who played at Lipscomb University under Don Meyer. He began his coaching career on the staffs at Vanderbilt and Austin Peay.
During Ayers' 28 seasons, Belmont has posted nearly 600 wins, averaging 24 wins per season.
He was part of Belmont's transition from NCAA Division I independent to membership in the Atlantic Sun Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, and Missouri Valley Conference.
Ayers' coaching area of expertise is in offensive moves, footwork, positioning, and team defense. Aside from his work with Bradds, who was a 6-foot-7 post player, Ayers helped develop numerous all-conference post players, including Adam Mark, Adam Sonn, Boomer Herndon, Mick Hedgepeth, Scott Saunders, Amanze Egekeze, Nick Muszynski, Malik Dia, Sam Orme and Drew Scharnowski.
