England star Jude Bellingham appeared to slap Argentina's Valentin Barco on the back of his head following the frustrating World Cup elimination on Wednesday.

Argentina rallied late in the game to beat England 2-1 and reach Sunday's final, in which they will face Spain.

After the game, Bellingham was standing by a group of Argentina players, who were celebrating the win. Suddenly, he walked toward the group and slapped Barco. The moment was captured on video and shared on social media.

It's unclear whether Barco said something to Bellingham that triggered the reaction, but it led to an argument between both players and also their team-mates.

Bellingham didn't speak about the incident when talking to journalists, only expressed his frustration with the elimination.

"This is so devastating. I wanted to be part of the English team that finally made it, that finally crossed the finish line. Standing here and telling the fans the same things they've probably been hearing for years and years, that's really devastating. I'm sorry," he said.

Argentina were going out after Anthony Gordon's 55th-minute opener but England then went defensive and the title holders surged forward, Enzo Fernandez levelling on 85 before Martinez headed in Lionel Messi's cross in stoppage time.
