We have gone over the coaching staff and broken down the roster by positions of need. In part three of Becoming the GM, we will be taking a look at all the free agents for the Minnesota Vikings and choosing which players to bring back. The Vikings have 20 players who are going to be free agents this offseason, and here they are:
Out of these 20 players, there are a handful we are not even going to extend an offer to, even if it is a lowball number. Those players include Bo Richter, Ben Sims, John Wolford, Andrew DePaola, Tavierre Thomas, Justin Skule, and Matt Nelson. That brings our number down to 13 players. The players we will be sending offers to, below positional average, are Carson Wentz, Jalen Nailor, Ty Chandler, Zavier Scott, Rondale Moore, and Fabian Moreau.
Players we are trying to get back into the building are Eric Wilson, Ryan Wright, Jeff Okudah, Ivan Pace, and Jalen Redmond. These are the players who fit best with what we are trying to do here. Wilson and Pace are going to be featured pieces in this linebacker room. Wright performed well this year, and when you find a good punter, you keep him. Okudah had flashes of his potential this season, and we want to give him a full year in this defense to see what we have. Lastly, Redmond from the interior had six sacks on the year, which is something teams can not easily replace.
In the next installment, we begin going position by position and making decisions on who is in that room. Cuts, trades, additions, you name it!
