For months, speculation has surrounded Harry Kane’s long-term future at Bayern Munich, but club president Herbert Hainer’s latest comments should provide supporters with plenty of optimism. While there is no indication that a new deal is imminent, there also does not appear to be any concern from either side about getting an extension completed before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Hainer made it clear that Bayern Munich sees Kane as a cornerstone of the club’s future.

“There’s no doubt that we want to extend Harry Kane’s contract. I also believe that Harry wants to extend with us. He has said that he feels absolutely no pressure as to whether it should happen before or after the World Cup. He’s very relaxed about it. What was important to him was to focus first on the season and the goals with FC Bayern. That shows what a great athlete he is,” Hainer said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

The most notable part of Hainer’s comments might not be Bayern Munich’s desire to keep Kane—that has been obvious for quite some time. Instead, it is Kane’s reported mindset that stands out. Rather than allowing contract negotiations to become a distraction during one of the biggest seasons of his career, the England captain appears focused solely on helping Bayern Munich compete for trophies while preparing for another World Cup campaign.

That approach reflects the professionalism that has defined Kane throughout his career. Whether he is scoring goals, mentoring younger teammates, or handling contract speculation, he has consistently projected calm and confidence instead of creating unnecessary headlines.

Assuming both sides remain on the same page, there seems to be little reason to rush an agreement simply to meet an arbitrary deadline before the World Cup. Bayern Munich clearly values Kane as both one of the world’s elite strikers and a leader within the dressing room, while Kane appears equally happy with his role at Säbener Straße. Those are usually the ingredients that lead to successful contract extensions when the timing is right.
