The Grateful Dead has been celebrated by the Bay Area music community for decades. Now, more of the region's sports teams are welcoming the Deadhead spirit into their stadiums and arenas.

In honor of the legendary jam band's belated 60th anniversary, the San Jose Earthquakes plan to offer Deadheads a new kit complete with a blue tie-dye jersey featuring the group's iconic skull logo. The team is set to debut the themed ensemble during its PayPal Park home game against Atlanta United on Feb. 28.

Those who attend the game will also get a commemorative poster created by Stanley Mouse, the Bay Area artist known for designing some of the Dead's early psychedelic posters and album art, while supplies last.

To snag the limited edition Grateful Dead Earthquakes kits, ranging in price from $95-$180, fans must order them online. Pickup from PayPal Park begins Saturday, Feb. 14, coinciding with a free launch party at the soccer stadium scheduled for 2-4 p.m.

Bringing the Dead celebrations to the ice rink, the San Jose Sharks also plan to honor the band's legacy with its third annual Grateful Dead Night on April 1, when the team takes on the Anaheim Ducks at SAP Center. The festivities will include a pregame concert headlined by Redwood City tribute band Aardvark.

VIP ticket packages for the Sharks game include limited-edition tie-dye hoodies and caps. Standard ticket packages include only the hat.

The San Francisco Giants and the Golden State Warriors have hosted tributes to the classic rock group over the years. Most recently, the Warriors honored Bob Weir, the band's founding guitarist who died in January, with a moment of silence before losing to the Atlanta Hawks at Chase Center on Jan. 11.

According to his family, Weir began cancer treatment weeks before he took the stage at Golden Gate Parks with his Dead & Company bandmates for a string of sold-out shows that honored the Dead's milestone anniversary year last summer.
