Fancy! Bayern Munich’s turf installation is just about done and Tz captured the sod, which was imported from Milan:

While the FC Bayern team is training in Asia for the new season , the Allianz Arena is also being prepared for football matches. After a long summer of concerts, the stadium is getting a completely new pitch. However, the necessary turf isn’t grown in Bavaria: around 8,400 square meters of rolled turf are being delivered to Munich from the Milan area.

According to the operators of the Allianz Arena, the new pitch consists of approximately 600 individual rolls. Each roll is about 1.20 meters wide, 12 meters long, and weighs around 800 kilograms. In total, this means that nearly 480 tons of turf will need to be moved. The entire installation is expected to be completed within just three days. Afterward, the pitch will be ready for play immediately.

The Bavarians will be hoping that the grass will hold up through November (not always a certainty) when the NFL arrives. After that, Bayern Munich will get to do this all over again!
