Nov. 14—BEMIDJI — After Caden Bolte was carted off the field in an awkward-looking injury in Duluth last Saturday, the main concern for the redshirt junior was about his well-being, not getting back on the football field.

There's some good news on both fronts. According to head coach Brent Bolte, Caden, his son, is up and running and waiting to be cleared for Saturday's season finale against U-Mary.

"It's good news. I would say as good news as you could (get), considering how scary it was at the time," Coach Bolte said. "We'll see if he's going to be back, if he gets cleared by the weekend."

Bolte has been a defensive stalwart for the Beavers this season. He leads the team in tackles with 47 and has one interception, a fumble recovery and a safety.

Redshirt freshman Bart McAninch has been the starting quarterback for the Beavers since Sept. 27 against Minot State, going 3-2 as a starter.

He was listed as the No. 1 QB on the depth chart heading into Minnesota Duluth, but redshirt sophomore Connor Carver unexpectedly received all the playing time against the Bulldogs in BSU's 42-28 loss.

McAninch was not listed on Bemidji State's depth chart for Saturday's game against U-Mary. He will not dress as he deals with a lingering injury, according to Bolte.

"He did have some injury leading up to (Minnesota Duluth)," he said. "He's been fighting it ever since."

Through the air, the Beavers have had the most success with McAninch. In his five starts, he's thrown for 888 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Meanwhile, Carver had his best performance of the year against the Bulldogs. He threw for a season-high 210 yards and two touchdowns, while also leading the Beavers in rushing with 116 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

"I thought Carver made use of his opportunity," Bolte said. "I thought he had his best game."

For a difficult year like Bemidji State has had this season, the team desperately wants to go out on a high note, especially for the seniors.

As Bolte put it, this year's senior class has been through the ups (multiple playoff wins) and downs (this season). In a season that hasn't gone their way, a win over U-Mary feels deserving.

"I've been talking about it with our seniors every day about what they've done, the legacy they've left," Bolte said. "And now we just got to go out and win one for them."

It will be a tough test for the Beavers, though, especially defensively. The Marauders are known to get creative offensively, so the Beavers need to be on the lookout for unique plays.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium.

"U-Mary's no joke. ... They are very, very creative," Bolte said. "They'll do anything at any time. ... But hopefully we can get one on our last day here at the Chet."
