PLATTSBURGH — Meegan Burdo and Amaya Abellard scored two goals each Monday night to help give Beekmantown a 5-0 victory over Hanover in non-league girls’ hockey.

Katie McCormick also scored for the Eagles, and the shutout in net went to Kori-Lynn Lamoy with 21 saves.

Beekmantown scored at least one goal in every period and tallied two in the final 1:42 of the contest, one into an empty net.

“It was Senior Night tonight, and our seniors came to play,” Beekmantown coach Al Ruest said. “Every one of our six seniors got on the score sheet with a goal, assist or Lamoy stopping 21 shots for the shutout.

“Sophomore Ele Fullum also had a strong game, getting two assists for us. Our girls are really playing well as a team of late, and I believe we are getting stronger with every game.”

ROUSES POINT — Cameron Olsen was a standout with two goals and three assists, while Joe Gabriele added a goal and three assists as Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa (9-3-1) from Section II skated to a non-league win over the Cougars.

Greyson Lafountain, Hayden Schad and Karsen Trim tallied second-period goals for NCCS. It was the first varsity goal for Lafountain, who normally is in net for the Cougars.

“We were a step behind in the first period,” NCCS coach Scott Lafountain said. “Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa is a good team, and they took advantage, putting us in a 3-0 hole after one.

“I felt we played hard in the second and third periods and cut our deficit to 5-3 with a goal late in the second, but then they made it 6-3 shortly after.”

The Spartans held a 42-26 advantage in shots on goal, and Camden Badger made 35 saves in the NCCS nets.

“This was a make-up from an earlier game we had snowed out when we were down there for a weekend,” Lafountain said. “They volunteered to come up here to play it and having a game like this against a quality opponent will hopefully prepare us for when we return to league play.”
