New York Giants rookie linebacker Arvell Reese has been impressive on the field since being drafted fifth overall in the 2026 NFL draft.
His performance during OTAs and the early stages of training camp has drawn the attention of both teammates and the coaching staff. Reese has also shown strong football IQ.
On Friday, during a fully padded practice, Reese delivered a pair of impressive hits on running back Cam Skattebo.
While Reese’s intentions were not to injure Skattebo, the back-to-back hits on the contact-seeking Giants running back appeared to impress those present at training camp.
Reese was not expected to fall to the Giants at No. 5 overall, and many believe the team selected potentially the best player in the draft. The Giants had never imagined Reese would be available at five, but once he was there when they were on the clock, they locked in on the Ohio State product.
Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson has significant talent on the front seven, and Reese’s speed and play-making ability could have a major and immediate impact on the Giants’ defense.
Reese is expected to make his presence felt as a rookie and has been highlighted as one of the NFL’s most productive first-year players and a potential Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate.
