Boston Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman etched his name deeper into MLB history Thursday, securing an Opening Day save and in doing so tying Jonathan Papelbon for 11th on MLB's all-time saves list with 368 saves.

Red Sox fans watched Chapman dominate out of the Boston bullpen last season, an All-Star campaign for Aroldis.

Chapman’s ability to close games at age 38 remains remarkable. His power fastball and slider still generate swing-and-miss stuff, and his experience allows him to navigate high-leverage situations with poise.

What does 2026 hold for Chapman? If it's anything close to 2025, Red Sox fans are in for a treat.

The Cuban flamethrower went 5-3 last year with a 1.17 ERA across 67 appearances, converting 32 of 34 save chances while striking out 85 batters in 61.1 innings. He posted a microscopic 0.70 WHIP and held opponents to a .200 batting average, finishing seventh in American League Cy Young voting.
