The 2026 league year is coming up very soon. It officially begins at 1 p.m. Arizona time on March 11, with the legal negotiating period beginning on March 9 at 9 a.m. Arizona time.
The Arizona Cardinals have several roster decisions to make before then.
Leading up to the new league year, we will profile every player on the roster, go over what they did last season, what their contract status is and what they face in 2026.
Next up is outside linebacker Eku Leota.
Leota began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the Panthers in 2023 and was in training camp with the Steelers in 2025. Waived on Aug. 26, he was signed to the Saints practice squad on Sept. 2 and was elevated for three games until being released on Nov. 25. He played 31 special-teams snaps (47 percent) in those three games. He spent the final month of the season on the Cardinals practice squad after being signed Dec. 2 and signed a contract for 2026 on Jan. 5.
If on the active roster, Leota’s salary and cap charge in 2026 will be $1.145 million.
The Cardinals saw something they liked in Leota to sign him for the offseason. Can he open enough eyes to earn a role assuming he makes it to training camp? That’s the question to be answered in the coming months.
