Boston Red Sox hat

The Boston Red Sox have lost four straight games, including two in a row against the Toronto Blue Jays.

In response, the Red Sox made a move in the bullpen on Wednesday.

Boston announced that it is recalling left-handed hurler Alec Gamboa from the minors and designating right-handed pitcher Seth Martinez for assignment in response.

"The Red Sox today recalled LHP Alec Gamboa from Triple-A Worcester. To make room, Boston designated RHP Seth Martinez for assignment," the Red Sox announced on X.

Gamboa has pitched in seven games in the majors this season and has a 2.08 ERA in 13 innings of work.

While he may not be a big-name addition by any means, he's going to be another left-handed option for a club that needs a boost right now. Boton is dealing with its first taste of adversity since the end of June. Boston has been the best team in baseball over the last six weeks, but a four-game losing streak has slowed the momentum.

Boston still has two games left against the Blue Jays to try to get back on track.
