The Los Angeles Angels have become one of the more fascinating teams to watch at the 2026 MLB trade deadline. While Mike Trout isn't going anywhere, the rest of the roster has a real chance to be dealt this summer.

They've already made one trade, but a few bigger ones could be on the horizon. With plenty of attention on Jo Adell, the real intriguing players are Zach Neto and a pair of controllable starting pitchers.

According to Katie Woo, Ken Rosenthal, and Will Sammon of The Athletic, rival MLB executives believe that the Angels are more likely to trade those controllable SPs in Reid Detmers and Jose Soriano than Neto this summer.

"Some rival executives believe the Angels are more likely to trade one or both of Reid Detmers and Jose Soriano, each of whom comes with two additional years of control, than Neto, who can remain with the club for the next three years," Woo, Sammon and Rosenthal report.

This report from the trio from The Athletic is very interesting, as hearing that the Angels are more likely to trade Soriano and Detmers than Neto, amid the mounting Neto trade rumors, is noteworthy.

While the Angels don't have to trade any of these three players, and might end up keeping all of them, it would make a lot of sense if the Angels began a rebuild this year by selling all three players in a seller's market.

But, rival executives believe that Soriano and Detmers, both controllable starting pitchers -- a highly sought-after commodity at this year's deadline -- are more likely to be on the move than Neto.

The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies have recently been strongly linked to Neto ahead of the deadline, and there is a real chance that the 25-year-old shortstop is on the move.

It's going to cost a team a fortune, but with the lack of many good right-handed hitting options at the deadline, especially with the shallow shortstop talent pool available, the Angels do have a real reason to move on from Neto this summer.

If John Mozeliak is trading one of those players, it would make sense to deal all of them and truly enter a rebuild instead of the half-in, half-out plan they've been operating under the last few seasons.

This report is an interesting one. For as much buzz as there's been about Neto recently, and some of the pushback about a Detmers or Soriano trade, the fact that some MLB execs believe the pitchers are more likely to go is noteworthy.
