Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky made their 2025 WNBA preseason debut on Friday night, facing the Brazil women's national basketball team at Pete Maravich Assembly Center, home of the LSU Tigers.
The game marked a homecoming for Reese and her new Sky teammate Hailey Van Lith. The two stars played alongside each other for one season (2023-24), but fell short of their championship expectations, losing in the Elite Eight.
After a successful 2024-25 senior season with the TCU Horned Frogs, averaging 17.9 points and 5.4 assists, Van Lith saw her draft stock rise and was selected by the Sky with the No. 11 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Before the preseason match against Brazil, Reese joined the media for her first pregame press conference of the 2025 season. When asked about reuniting with Van Lith, Reese revealed what she told Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca in hopes of drafting her former LSU teammate, per Chicago Tribune's Julia Poe.
"Hailey works her ass off," Reese said. "You want a dog? Go get a dog."
Joining Van Lith in the Sky's 2025 draft class is Slovenia forward Ajsa Sivka, who was selected one spot after Van Lith at No. 10.
Chicago also made some major changes across the board. After failing to make the postseason in 2024, they dismissed coach Teresa Weatherspoon and hired Tyler Marsh. They also elected not to re-sign guard Chennedy Carter, who led the team in scoring last season.
The Sky will open the 2025 regular season on May 17, facing Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
