Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages has been a much improved hitter this season, but that might not the only way he’s helping out the offense.
As detailed by Jack Harris of the California Post, Pages was a menace to the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff when he reached base, like when he hit a double on Saturday.
“Almost every time Brewers left-hander Robert Gasser threw a pitch, the young Dodgers slugger was doing something with his hands that looked like a signal to the batter,” Harris wrote.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy told Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he thought Pages was signaling the coming pitches to his teammates.
Did Andy Pages have the Brewers’ pitches?
Pages hasn’t confirmed if he had the Brewers’ pitches or not, but he did tell the Post that the uncertainty is the point.
“It’s part of the competition, doing stuff like that, just distracting the pitcher, kind of getting him out of rhythm,” Pages said. “Whether he leaves pitches over the plate or not, that has nothing to do with it. It’s part of the competition, just kind of going back and forth with the pitcher, as well.”

Even manager Dave Roberts told the Post he wasn’t sure if Pages was actually relaying pitches, but in the end, the result was the same: Teoscar Hernandez blasted a three-run home run
“If you can make a pitcher feel like you’ve got their signs, you’ve already won,” Roberts said.
Roberts added that he doesn’t want Pages’ mind games to be counterproductive, but he appreciates the effort.
“There’s certain times when you want the runner to kind of be more still, to not distract the hitter, because you don’t want that, either,” Roberts said. “But, yeah, I like the way [he] is engaged and trying to get an advantage for the hitter.”
How is Andy Pages playing this season?
Pages is slashing .282/.335/.497/.832 on the season, and he leads the major leagues with 45 RBIs.
And he’s increased his offensive production without sacrificing elite defense, garnering strong momentum toward his first All-Star appearance.
Do you think Andy Pages will be an All-Star this year?
