Analyst predicts Justin Jefferson trade rumors could begin in 2026

Since entering the league in 2020, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been one of, if not the best, receivers in the league. He sits at or near the top of all major receiving totals since 2020 and has the most receiving yards through a player's first six seasons in NFL history. He is well on his way to becoming an all-time great, but could his time in Minnesota be nearing a close?

Jarrett Bailey of SB Nation brought us 61 NFL predictions leading up to the 2026 NFL season, and one of his predictions is that the Jefferson trade rumors really begin to form this season. Here is what he had to say on the matter:

After a 3-5 start, culminating with a Monday night loss to the Bills the night before the trade deadline, there are loud whispers that Justin Jefferson may want out of Minnesota. The trade deadline comes and goes without him being moved, but the narrative for the remainder of the season is if this will be the last year of Jefferson in a Vikings uniform.

While everyone would want to avoid this as much as possible, it's worth keeping in mind that, should Minnesota struggle again this season, a request to be moved is not outside the realm of possibility. No, he has not made any sort of complaint about his time, but playoff success and a run at a Super Bowl, or multiple, is on every player's mind.
