Star running back Ahmad Hardy has been medically cleared after being shot in the leg in May, Eli Drinkwitz told reporters at SEC Media Days on Monday morning.

“We anticipate that he will make a recovery,” Drinkwitz told reporters. “What that recovery will look like after having a bullet strike you is still to be determined.”

According to Drinkwitz, the running back will begin a return-to-play protocol that will take one to two months depending on Hardy’s recovery. That timeline puts him in line to return during the first few weeks of Missouri’s regular season, which begins on September 3 against Arkansas Pine-Bluff.

The All-American suffered a gunshot wound in May while attending a concert in Mississippi. In his first season as a Tiger, Hardy broke the program single-season rushing record with 1,649 yards.
