After missing most of Game 2 and all of Game 3 with a left pelvic contusion, veteran Warriors star Jimmy Butler was back in Golden State's starting lineup (first reported by The Athletic) for Monday's Game 4 of a first-round playoff series versus the Houston Rockets.
The Warriors currently hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven showdown, with Monday's Game 4 the second of two straight games at San Francisco's Chase Center.
Known as "playoff Jimmy" for his annual postseason exploits, Butler's return should only further enhance Golden State's odds of advancing. In a Game 1 road victory, the 35-year-old, six-time NBA All-Star was outstanding with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals while making 10-of-19 shots (52.6%).
Butler was injured when he fell hard onto the Toyota Center court after being undercut on a rebound by Rockets forward Amen Thompson. In comments from Houston, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he viewed the Game 2 incident as inadvertent, though Rockets veteran Dillon Brooks seemingly blamed Warriors forward Draymond Green for pushing Thompson into the contact.
From Game 4 onward, each game in the series has only one day of rest going in, so it remains to be seen if Butler's injury will limit him moving forward. Game 5 is Wednesday night in Houston.
