The Houston Texans announced they have claimed former New England Patriotsoffensive lineman Jake Andrews on waivers.

Andrews was one of six Patriots players released on Monday, following the 2025 NFL draft. The 2023 fourth-round draft pick out of Troy never had a real opportunity to make his mark in New England.

He was viewed as a potential long-term option at center behind legendary offensive lineman David Andrews, but things didn't turn out as originally envisioned. That's probably because the man with the original vision, Bill Belichick, was no longer coaching the team.

Andrews appeared in 16 games as a rookie and started in one game. However, he was robbed of a follow-up season due to a torn meniscus suffered in training camp last year.

Under newly-hired head coach Mike Vrabel, the Patriots signed veteran center Garrett Bradbury in free agency, and they also selected the best center on the draft board, Jared Wilson. Veteran interior offensive lineman Cole Strange might also be in the mix to play at center.

That all led to Andrews' time in New England being cut short. He'll now have a chance to bounce back on a talented Texans football team.
