Covenant Health Park has reached the homestretch, as the 2025 Knoxville Smokies season is already underway and just days away from the first home game at the new downtown Knoxville stadium.
Knox News has been there since the beginning when team owner Randy Boyd made his first pitch for returning the Smokies to Knoxville from Kodak, where the team moved 25 years ago.
Covenant Health Park, which also will host One Knoxville soccer games, opens just east of the (new) Old City on April 15 for the first home Smokies game.
With apartments and condos overlooking the field − and with businesses new and old capitalizing on this historical moment − there's a lot to catch up on at the $114 million Covenant Health Park as a new stadium district begins to form.
