For his first start with Pescara, Lorenzo Insigne found the net in Serie B—5041 days after his last appearance in the Italian league. A historic feat at the Adriatico.

This is a comeback that will go down in history. It was May 12, 2012. Lorenzo Insigne, then a young Napoli prodigy, scored his last Serie A goal against Torino at the Adriatico stadium. Fourteen years and 5041 days later, the same player, now wearing Pescara's colors, was back on the scoresheet against Palermo.

In the 55th minute, after a perfectly placed header from Di Nardo, Insigne found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Joronen and showed no signs of nerves: a right-footed control, a precise shot, and the ball nestled in the back of the net. The temporary 1-1 equalizer will forever be linked to this unique record.

A first start

Pescara is enduring a challenging season: bottom of the table with only 19 points, the club is fighting for survival and aiming to edge closer to the promotion playoff spots. Insigne, brought in to inject experience, immediately proved he hasn't lost his striker's instinct.
