The Denver Broncos completed their second week of training camp practice on Saturday, under the leadership of defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

Joseph was in charge for a good reason: head coach Sean Payton, several assistants and kicker Wil Lutz were all in Canton, Ohio to celebrate Drew Brees' enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Otherwise, it was business as usual at Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit.

Let's take a look at five quick takeaways from Saturday's practice.

1. Pat Bryant was on fire on Saturday

Pat Bryant has continued to impress with being an oft-targeted receiver for Bo Nix and the other quarterbacks. With Courtland Sutton having several vet days and Jaylen Waddle being injured, Bryant has gotten more playing time than usual. On Saturday, Bryant had the play of the day, going up between several defenders in the back of the end zone. By severalaccounts, Bryant may have made the best offensive play of camp thus far. Bryant may be looking at a strong 2026, should he stay healthy.

2. The defense continues to get stops

The final series of the day went to the defense, allowing both Bo Nix and Sam Ehlinger to get into the red zone in a two-minute drill, before finally buckling down and stopping them cold in their tracks. Denver was the best red zone defense in the NFL in 2025, so hopefully that trend continues in 2026.

3. QB2 situation heats up

Another big position battle up for grabs has been the Broncos backup quarterback role between Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger. Stidham took most of the second-team reps on Saturday, but interestingly, Ehlinger took the second-team during the two-minute drill to end camp, according to Luca Evans of the Denver Post.

4. Broncos injury front: Eyioma Uwazurike leaves practice with trainer

Uwazurike is the latest Bronco to be bitten by the injury bug, leaving near the end of practice with a trainer, per Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post. Of note, 2025 All-Pro special teamer Devon Key was seen working on a side field on Saturday for the first time. On a positive note, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle was seen without a sleeve on his leg, and projected to be back at practice next week.

5. Brandon Jones, a backup kicker?

One of the most fun stories of the day when Jones started hitting extra points in the middle of practice, serving as the Broncos' emergency kicker. Broncos fans chanted "Let's go, Brandon!" at Jones while he attempted kicks in place of Wil Lutz, who was in Canton, seeing his friend Drew Brees get enshrined. Jones said he once hit a 50-yard field goal. When asked if he may be called upon to make a kick in-game, Jones wasn't so sure. "Pray for me," Jones said in post-practice media availability.

The Broncos have an off-day on Sunday before returning to practice on Monday, Aug. 10.
