40 years since the Heysel tragedy

Forty years have passed since that catastrophic evening at Heysel: on May 29, 1985 in Brussels, inside the stadium of the Belgian city, just before the start of the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool, 39 people lost their lives following clashes that began in the stands and continued throughout that tragic evening.

An event in which horror took the upper hand over sport, a watershed moment in the lives of millions of fans, enthusiasts, women and men linked to the history of our club.

A tragedy that must be remembered, the only way to avoid reliving moments of terror and dismay like those.

What remains is the complete loss of meaning of an unthinkable evening, the pain for those who did not return home, and a wound that, even 40 years later, has no way of healing.

The conviction of the entire Juventus family is to always and forever carry forward the indelible memories of those who found themselves victim of an illogical tragedy, on a day of celebration transformed into a nightmare.
