Texas A&M (24-17, 8-11 SEC) dropped Game 1 vs. No. 1 Texas on the road 2-1 on Friday night in a matchup fueled by impressive pitching on both sides. While Aggie ace Ryan Prager lasted nearly six innings, allowing six hits and striking out three, Texas A&M's 1-0 deficit increased to 2-0 after Weston Moss allowed a solo home run in the seventh.

However, second baseman Ben Royo, who finished a perfect 4-4 at the plate, scored on an infield error in the eighth after Wyatt Henseler's infield pop-up was dropped, giving the Aggies some life heading into the final frame. However, the Longhorns' pitching, led by starter Ruger Riojas' equally impressive day on the mound, as Max Grubbs and Dylan Volantis finished the job with seven combined strikeouts.

With Game 1 over, all the emotions surrounding Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle facing his former team are hopefully put to rest, as both teams can focus on Game 2 without any distractions. After the loss, Texas A&M coach Michael Earley kept it simple, stating that the next two days will be a "dog fight" that will require hellacious effort.

“We’re going to be in a dog fight for three days. We just gotta regroup after today, come back out and even this thing up tomorrow.”

With Justin Lamkin headed to the mound, the junior is coming off a less-than-stellar showing in last Friday's loss to Arkansas. Still, after watching Ryan Prager, it feels like Lamkin is headed toward a rebound, but he'll need A&M's offense to come through after Friday's dismal showing.

Texas A&M vs. No. 1 Texas will face off at 3:00 p.m. CT. on Saturday, April 26. The game will air on ESPN2.
