Jacob Bethell opens up on sharing dressing room with Virat Kohli at RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prodigy Jacob Bethell has shared some insights into what it feels like being part of the same team and locker room as Indian star Virat Kohli.

Speaking on The Super Over, Bethell said that the former RCB captain has two faces - one very chilled outside cricket and a very determined competitor when it comes to training or matches.

According to Bethell, "Away from cricket and off the field, he's actually a very chilled individual. You know, great to talk to, great to spend time around. But, it's just that ability to then flip into that competitive nature in and around cricket or training.

"His lifestyle is very... Everything is... All the arrows are pointed in high performance, in a way of high performance, right? So he gives himself the best chance. But, yeah, he's an ultra competitive person. He wasn't captain, you know, when I was there, but he's a massive leader within the team."

Bethell explains Virat Kohli's impact beyond captaincy

The England international also emphasised the effect of Kohli on meetings, stating that the experienced batter always shares his knowledge with the younger players.

As per Bethell, simply spending time with someone like Kohli is enough to learn many things.

"Yeah, on the field, he's very animated. But team meetings, that kind of stuff, he shares unbelievable information, which is just... When you're around people like that, you just want to kind of be a sieve and take in all that information," he said.

Kohli has always been known to be one of the best dressing room captains of the IPL, and Bethell's remarks provide yet another indication of the same.

Why Virat Kohli remains RCB's driving force

The views shared by Jacob Bethell have echoed sentiments that have been expressed by Kohli's contemporaries and ex-teammates: the effect that Kohli has had on RCB has gone far beyond his contributions in the form of runs scored.

Kohli's dedication, competitiveness, and mentoring of new players have left an impact on RCB.
