The Miami Dolphins are moving forward with a significant reset in 2025. A couple months after firing Chris Grier as general manager, the Dolphins also fired Mike McDaniel as head coach Thursday, four days after the team finished with a 7-10 record.

Tua Tagovailoa is expected to be replaced as quarterback of the team and several other changes are likely for a Dolphins organization that is in need of a salary cap overhaul.

Shortly after McDaniel's dismissal, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross explained the decision in a statement.

"After careful evaluation and extensive discussions since the season ended, I have made the decision that our organization is in need of comprehensive change," Ross said. "I informed Mike McDaniel this morning that he has been relieved of his duties as head coach. I love Mike and want to thank him for his hard work, commitment, and the energy he brought to our organization. Mike in an incredibly creative football mind whose passion for the game and his players was evident every day. I wish him and his family the best moving forward."

McDaniel had a 35-33 regular season record in his four-year tenure with the Dolphins. The team reached the playoffs in his first two seasons at the helm, but failed to win a postseason game.
