'Burg 11-12 All-Stars drop tight contests to Illinois, Michigan

In its first trip to the regional tournament since winning the 2018 World Series, the Wheelersburg 11-12 All-Stars acquitted themselves well in the 2026 Little League Central Region Tournament. The 'Burg 11-12 All-Stars' season ultimately came to a close with 5-0 and 3-1 losses to Illinois and Michigan, respectively.

In the opening contest on Saturday morning, Wheelersburg dropped a 5-0 decision to Illinois. Brynnli Greenhill and Reese Grimes each went 1-for-2 with Grimes notching a double to lead off the bottom of the third inning.

Grimes ultimately threw a complete game six-hitter with five strikeouts in the loss.

Against Michigan, Wheelersburg battled the state champions to the north to a scoreless tie through six innings of play before Michigan scored three runs in the top half of the seventh inning.

A leadoff error in the seventh inning allowed Wheelersburg's Olivia Stafford to score Ava Kate Chamberlin on an RBI groundout, but the 'Burg 11-12s weren't able to tack on the tying runs, resulting in the loss.

Emmalynn Chidsey and Reese Stang each went 1-for-2 in the contest for Wheelersburg.
