The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the more consistent teams in the NFC West in terms of winning over the past five seasons. I mean that in terms of progression, or at least tying to the win total from the year before. Even with winning the Super Bowl last season, the Seahawks are projected to finish second behind the Rams and receive a wild-card playoff spot. As we have stated before, the NFC West is survival of the fittest, and this season will be no different.
This will mark the final team in the division as we continue our series of "3 unanswered questions before training camp." What should the Seahawks expect to be answered to get them back to the promised land of a ring on their finger? Let's find out.
To be quite honest, Sam Darnold became only the second quarterback to win 14 games in back-to-back seasons. But he did turn the ball over 14 times on the year and cleaned it up by not turning it over at all in the playoffs. My point is that I do not think he'll regress, but 14 wins may not happen again. The bigger issue is that Darnold will have to rely more heavily on the passing game, given the departures of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet, who is coming off a late-season ACL injury, and the turnovers may stack up a little more. Luckily, the defense is unchanged.
Not only did the Seahawks lose key pieces on offense with Walker III going to the Chiefs and Charbonnet battling back from an ACL injury, but the team relied on the two-headed monster last season to ride that high all the way to the Super Bowl. Now, it appears that the backfield will consist of rookie Jadarian Price and Emanuel Wilson as the one-two punch.
The Seahawks flew under the radar last season more so than in previous years, but responded the only way you could. Now, being the defending Super Bowl champions and having the popular series Hard Knocks come to town for camp, how will they respond with the added pressure of the limelight throughout training camp?
