The last time these two teams faced, Indiana was undefeated and ranked 19th in the coaches poll while the Gophers appeared on their way to a truly horrific Big Ten season. And this is when the Gopher team that we’ve come to know (and love) made themselves apparent.
Now Indiana is hearing their NCAA Tournament pulse come to a pace reminiscient of Wisconsin in the Dick Bennett years and the Gophers are getting stronger as their roster dwindles. Can the Gophers get a win in Bloomington and sweep the Hoosiers?

Contain Lamar Wilkerson – The senior transfer from Sam Houston State is bender, averaging 25.7 over his last 10 games. He hit 41 against Oregon, 33 at USC and just had 29 in their loss to Michigan State. Keeping him closer to 15 than 25 will help the Gophers tremendously.

Be the better offense – Both of these teams have a very high assist to field goals made ratio. Minnesota is #1 in the country and Indiana is 10th. The Hoosier defense is not very good (15th in the B1G in defensive efficiency) and they tend to put teams on the free throw line frequently. The Gophers need to run their efficient offense and get to the free throw line.

Box out – We are not very good with defesive rebounding, and we no longer even try to get offensive rebounds. Securing rebounds and limiting the offensive opportunities for Indiana is going to be important.
PREDICTION
My confidence is building with this team. If they had Crocker-Johnson, I might even feel optimistic about our chances to make a run in the Big Ten Tournament. At this point, I’m just loving this season and enjoying watchign this team.
Indiana has had a tough stretch, facing Illinois, Purdue and Michigan State in three of their last four games. The other game was a home loss to Northwestern. Maybe their 4-game losing streak has lit a fire or maybe it is beating them down.
I’m hoping the Gophers continue to beat them down and come away with a big win tonight.
