It's the eve of the 2026 NFL Draft and we still have no confidence about who the Pittsburgh Steelers will target in the first round. It could be a wide receiver or an offensive lineman but if former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson has his way, it'll be a quarterback.
Simpson is in Pittsburgh for the draft and he spoke to the local media and gushed about the franchise, making it clear he would love to have the Steelers call his name on Thursday night.
"It's a great organization, a real gritty, like I said, just a city that represents the organization," Simpson said. "Coach McCarthy is going to do a great job there. He has stuff in line, and Omar was great as well. I really have a ton of respect for them. If I ever got to play for those guys, or was blessed to hear my name called on Thursday night, it's going to be so surreal. Especially being here in Pittsburgh. So, I'm super blessed and excited."
It might be considered a reach for the Steelers to take Simpson at pick No. 21 but it wouldn't be the most shocking pick the team could make. Aaron Rodgers continues to lead the Steelers on about whether or not he plans to re-sign. The team must move forward with their plan in the draft as though Rodgers isn't coming back which could mean rolling the dice on Simpson and moving forward without Rodgers.
