Buffalo met with Oklahoma safety Robert Spears-Jennings at the 2026 NFL combine in Indianapolis per WIVB, as the Bills are looking to add to the position.
The 6-foot-1, 219-pound 22-year-old from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, has been one of the Big 12's most physical defensive backs during his time with the Sooners. He was a four-year contributor at Oklahoma who steadily developed into one of the conference's top safeties.
Spears-Jennings posted 43 solo tackles, four forced fumbles, one interception, and one pass defended in 2024. His ability to force turnovers and play with physicality in the box makes him a strong safety prospect for teams at the pro level.
At 219 pounds, he's a willing run defender who can fill gaps and deliver physical play and hits, while also showing enough range to handle deep-half coverage.
His four forced fumbles in 2024 were also among the best marks in the country at the position, highlighting his disruption skills and aggressive style.
For the Bills, positional versatility has been a core value in assessing additions to their roster this offseason.
The young secondary talent played both safety and wide receiver in high school. As a senior, he was the Oklahoma All-District 6A-I Safety of the Year after recording 56 tackles and four interceptions. He also had 36 receptions for 626 yards and eight touchdowns to boot.
Safety has been a position of interest in the pre-draft process for Buffalo. They released Taylor Rapp this week and will be looking to add to the group. Spears-Jennings' physicality and versatility could make him a fit in Jim Leonhard's defensive scheme.
He is projected as a mid-round selection in the 2026 NFL draft.
