The 2026 NFL draft is roughly two months away, and all 32 NFL teams are assessing players, watching film, and conducting full-scale evaluations of each player who has declared for the upcoming draft. This is the time of year when mock drafts are in abundance, and we love to see the predictions.
Pro Football Focus released a three-round mock draft this week, and the New York Giants bolstered their defense with their 5th overall pick.
Many analysts and outlets predict that the Giants will select a defensive player in this spot, whether it's a linebacker, safety, or cornerback. It's no secret the Giants' secondary needs some serious love, and Styles can reignite a unit that's been limping along for years.
Over his four seasons at Ohio State, Styles recorded 245 tackles (132 solo), nine passes defensed, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, and one interception.
In the second round, the PFF mock has the Giants picking cornerback Colton Hood out of Tennessee with the 37th overall pick. They do not have a third-round pick after sending it to the Houston Texans in the Jaxson Dart trade during the 2025 NFL draft.

No. 5 New York Giants: LB Sonny Styles, Ohio State
While I agree with the recent declaration from multiple draft analysts that Ohio State’s Arvell Reese is a better prospect as a linebacker than an edge defender, I think his teammate is the best linebacker in this draft class. Styles' grading profile is similar to that of San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Fred Warner from his BYU days, and he could easily be a decade-long NFL starter.
