If the season started today, one Chiefs player would be their biggest fantasy bargain, another a likely bust, and a third a likely wild card.

Chaos surrounds this would-be Super Bowl contender, whose dynasty was cut short last year in dramatic fashion. Missing the playoffs? This team? How? But here they are, on the verge of what might be a fantasy-friendly season . . . or another disaster.

At this moment, the most likely bargain is Patrick Mahomes. His ADP last summer was QB6. Yet he was elite for most of the first half of the season despite missing #1 WR Rashee Rice. In other words, Mahomes doesn’t need a super team to produce Hall-of-Fame numbers.

But the market will remain at least a little wary of investing in a 30-year-old coming off a season-ending injury. That should be enough to keep his ADP outside the top six and possibly outside the top eight, marking a clear investing opportunity for managers seeking elite upside.

Travis Kelce and his retired brother, Jason, have a lot more in common than DNA. Both had season-ending surgeries at age 24, both went on to produce first-ballot-level Hall-of-Fame careers, and both retired at . . . well, we’ll see. Jason retired at 36. Travis is weighing retirement at 36. If he returns in 2026, his ADP will at least partially reflect last year’s surprisingly strong TE3 fantasy campaign.

In actuality, in anticipation of another drop in targets and yards after the catch, he’ll be a long shot to finish inside the top 10. Consider that last year’s injured rising stars -- like Brock Bowers, Tucker Kraft, and Sam LaPorta -- are primed to overtake Kelce, along with other young talents like Tyler Warren and Harold Fannin Jr. Too much of the market will put its faith in a fading Kelce.

Rashee Rice is the clear wild card. He’s near-elite when active, but he’s played in only 12 games these past two seasons. Off-the-field issues are threatening his 2026 campaign, leading to a continually shifting ADP. He is the ultimate dice roll.
