Once upon a time, it took months for teams to reach terms on a contract with their draft picks. The rapidly inflating rookie deals frequently led to lengthy holdouts and record-breaking totals for players who hadn't played a snap in the NFL.
That came to an end in 2011 when the NFL and NFL Players Association instituted a rookie wage scale that determines salaries for rookies based on their draft slot.
There's a little wiggle room, as teams will often push for offset language to be added to the contract, which essentially protects the team from being on the hook for the player's entire salary if they cut ties before the four-year deal ends. Still, the total values of the contracts are already set.
Here's what the rookie deals for the Dolphins' 2025 draft class should look like:
Contract: 4-year, $21,956,308
Signing bonus: $12,608,224
Grant's contract will also have a fifth-year option. The value of the option will be determined by playtime and whether or not Grant earns Pro Bowl accolades.

Signing bonus: $4,874,524
