What a great idea this is. Spend over $2 billion so I can sit inside a stadium and see the sky, airplanes, clouds etc. WOW. But I bet I can do that right at my house and it won’t cost me a dime. Shouldn’t you be watching the game instead of looking at the sky and searching for airplanes? — J. Riley
Great piece and loved the look across the larger landscape of MLB and new stadiums. Having been to Petco (honestly one of the most beautiful stadiums of ANY sport I’ve ever seen/been to) I think the projected TB Rays stadium will be an asset to the entire region. The hang ups on the cost to local tax payers completely ignore the positives that will come for decades. Get this building started folks! — S. White

Everybody is building smaller stadiums. Doesn’t mean you won’t still have value level tickets. It’s happening across ALL types of venues from college to the pros. — S. White
My biggest issue with the Rays has always been the entertainment and overall fan experience. It feels outdated, overly corporate, and strangely geared toward an older crowd. A lot of the in-game presentation comes across as corny instead of energetic or engaging. I’ve visited ballparks across Major League Baseball, and the Rays are honestly among the weakest when it comes to creating atmosphere and entertaining fans. A new stadium should be an opportunity for a complete reset: modern presentation, better music, better crowd interaction, and an experience that actually feels big league. — A. M.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a massive rebrand. The Rays has always been a weird name, it’s a ray of sunshine but also a stingray? The coolest name, that probably wouldn’t be approved by MLB, would be the Tampa Bay Torcedors. Would be very uniquely Tampa. — J. Powers
