POTTSVILLE — Thousands of racers will converge on Mahantongo Street on Saturday for the 13th annual Yuengling Light Lager Jogger.
The 5K, open to runners and walkers of all levels, will start at 9 a.m. at the Yuengling brewery, 501 Mahantongo St.
As of Monday, there were fewer than 400 out of 3,500 spots open for the race, according to lagerjogger.com.
The race — which is mostly on Mahantongo, Norwegian and Howard streets — will have two water stations and will end at the brewery.
The event typically draws racers from across the country. It also has featured the same winner every year: Kyle Price of Milltown, New Jersey, has won nearly every Lager Jogger outright, with the exception being in 2016, when he tied for first place with Stephen Febish, of Baltimore.
In addition to the race, there will be live entertainment and about 50 local vendors staged outside the brewery, including food, craft and information vendors.
An award ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. The post-race festivities will conclude at 1 p.m.
To register or find out more information about the event, visit lagerjogger.com.
Participants must pay a $52 fee for the main race and $40 for the virtual race. Registration is open until 9 a.m. Saturday.
All participants will receive a Yuengling Light Lager Jogger branded pint glass, a race T-shirt, two Yuengling Light Lagers, free brewery tours (prior to race day) and admission to the post-race party.
Proceeds from the charity raffle and the virtual race will go to Team Red, White & Blue, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that assists veterans with their physical and mental health.
Participants must pick up race packets at the American Hose Fire Station 70, 323 W. Norwegian St., from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday or 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
While there will be no brewery tours the day of the race, racers get free admission to any of 13 tours on Thursday and Friday.
The Yuengling gift shop will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Parking
All participants will be able to park for free in the Mahantongo Street parking garage or in other garages or lots in the city.
As usual, people who live along the race route or near the brewery will have to park their vehicles elsewhere the day of the race.
Starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, there will be no parking allowed along the race route. Parking will also be prohibited in the vendor staging area along Mahantongo Street starting at 7 a.m. Friday, according to Pottsville police.
The schedule of events for the Lager Jogger is as follows:
