The Blues suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat against PSG at Stamford Bridge, with the Parisians advancing to the Champions League quarter finals 8-2 on aggregate.

It’s been an awful week for the club with two defeats to PSG, the loss to Newcastle, and the news Reece James is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Joe Cole delivers damning assessment of Chelsea

Chelsea beat this PSG side 3-0 in the Club World Cup final last summer, but the gap between the two clubs couldn’t be bigger.

Rosenior will have serious questions to answer, but the problems go beyond him to an ownership and director level.

Owen Hargreaves has already expressed his opinion, and Cole has now delivered a scathing assessment of where his former club are currently at.

“This is a real eye-opener to where we are as a club at the moment,” he told TNT Sports.

“There’s a lot of money being spent and we need to really think about what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.

“That’s simply not good enough, there are 20-year-olds and 19-year-olds on the pitch today. There’s time to grow, improve and get better.

“They’ll have better nights in their career. But as a football club, you’ve got to go football club first, not business first.

“Simple as that, or else you’ll get performances like that.”

Chelsea’s season in danger of falling apart

The Blues are sat sixth in the league with eight games remaining, and face a tough trip to Everton on Saturday, knowing they must win.

Chelsea are in serious danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League, which could lead to key players reconsidering their future at the club.

Rosenior has somehow got to get something out the group and pick them up, otherwise Chelsea could easily fall further down the table.
